My days in GIVES

I’ve always wanted to be a volunteer since I was in elementary school, but didn’t really find any chance. It is the main reason that I chose to join GIVES. Though other clubs also appealed to me a lot, I put GIVES as my primary choice without a thought. I really glad I made that choice.
At first, I was shocked by the incredibly large information that Teacher Sylvia gave us. I realized that volunteering is much more complicated than simply sweeping the floor. Planning the project, organizing the team, raising money and more were all we had to learn. It really was not easy, but the great sense of fulfillment was worth it. I must admit that I lost my passion and willpower sometimes, however my partners helped me through all the tasks.
I will not give up on my volunteer career, and will always do my best to help anyone in need.

One night, when he was surfing the Internet, an advertisement at the side of the website caught his eye. “Becoming a billionaire overnight!” it said. Curious, he clicked into the advertisement but found nothing in it. Then, he went to sleep. While he was sleeping, the computer beside him started to spit out thousands of bills. Jason woke up the next morning, astonished at what he saw. Not understanding what was happening, the advertisement he saw last night suddenly crossed his mind. “There must be something to do with it,” he thought. Since he became so rich, he decided to realize his dream – buying a Porsche. Excited, he started to collect the bills in his room. However, those piles of bills suddenly disappeared! He quickly turned on the computer and searched for the ad. It was an ordinary winter. Santa had been preparing gifts for children around the world for almost a year. Everything was ready. However, Santa's favorite reindeer, Rudolph, suddenly became very ill, and it was too late to train other reindeer to pull the sled. He had no idea what to do! Then, an elf came to him. "Sir, perhaps you could take the transportation people are using now. It is much better than it was in the 16th century," the elf suggested. Having no other options, Santa took his advice and took the cab to give presents away. To his surprise, it was actually quite convenient! So don't be too stunned to see an old man in red with a big bag taking a cab on Christmas Eve this year!
